by healing that often hidden yet embedded sense that "you're not good enough" or that "you don't matter", and by eliminating the many strategies we use to avoid this toxic shame discomfort (e.g., overdoing, defending, controlling, avoiding, addicting).

"in between Grief and Gratitude
lives Grace"

Years ago I had the honor
of working with someone,
who followed me into the forest
to face his darkest shadows,
to admit his deepest failings.

Amidst the tears of his
greatest Grief,
he looked upon me
with awe and wonder and with the
greatest of Gratitude.
For rather than plunge to
his sure death,
in this deep dark place...
he had met with Grace,
the greatest of Grace.

This moment of Grace, where we were surrounded by
"Truth & Love in Equal Measure",
was the moment when this Toxic Shame model was first conceived, the Spring of 2003.
Our first daughter, Cassandra, was conceived shortly before;
this amazing higher wisdom evolving as she did in utero,
both being prepared to emerge into the world.
I was asked to teach it on a national (US) and then an international (Australia)
teleconference that September. She was born that October.
